Good Life Project: where does my blog stand?

Dear Readers,

I have been thinking about this blog as of late, and how I see it fitting into my life at the moment. Sometimes I wonder if I should dissolve it; my priorities have shifted and I find I have less time to really sit down and write. I originally started the blog (in April 2007) as a creative outlet for myself during the time when my husband and I first started our photography business. He was the photographer, and I was the manager, so I wanted to make sure I was able to have a way to express my self as well. Now I have a band, which has been one of my dreams for a long time, and has thus taken a higher rung on the ladder than my writing.

When I look back on my first several posts, I am reminded of the inspirations for starting the Good Life Project:

"New Beginnings": this introductory post highlighted my simple goal of living a good life and what it might mean to do so (it means something different to everyone).

Over the past 2 years (wow, my blog is 2 years old!), I have discussed everything from fears:
"What I am afraid of admitting I'm afraid of"

to celebrations:
"Today I find Inspiration in Everything"

to more existential narratives:
"I Want to Matter (The Anthropology of Living)"

I feel that I have consistently stayed on course with my theme of living a good life, and writing this blog has given me many peaceful moments of introspection, as well as the chance to make some new friends!

So the big question now is, what does this blog mean to you?
Should I keep writing, or should I dissolve it? Are we all too busy to connect via blogs anymore?

Please, if you have never or rarely commented, now is your time to let me know what you think about the Good Life Project. I would like to get an idea about the role my blog plays in your lives. After all, why else do people post their thoughts on the internet except to connect with other people and get feedback (well, that's why I do it anyway)?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Here's to a good life,
Larissa

Larissa. I read your blog all of the time.. just never comment.. not sure why.. just don't.. I think about you randomly (for instance today I was reading in my hammock) and thought of all the hours I spent in your hammock in Austin reading and watching the cardinals and blue jays fly.. once while listening to Bonnie Rait playing down the road. So keep on blogging, but do what you feel is right too. Miss ya

Thanks for your input, Christina. It's nice to know you read consistently. And I think of you randomly, too. I think a lot about Austin, of course, and you are often in those memories. Those were fun times!
Thanks again for your thoughts,
Larissa

Keep the writing coming! It's getting me slowly but surely closer to starting my own, and unleashing my thoughts onto the world wide web!

In all honesty, it's so interesting to read these blogs, both the business and the personal, your insight on topics is phenomenal!

Keep up the good work!

Don't dissolve it!!! I check in on your blog all the time. Whenever I am stressed at work and want a moment to escape, I look at your blog whether it's old posts or new. You are really an inspiration and your blog is so soothing and helps ground me. I understand about losing steam on a blog because I haven't written on mine in months due to a shift in priorities also. But, you are a wonderful writer and so insightful--know that people you haven't even met are touched by your words :) Whatever you decide, thank you.

I know you have a lot on your plate right now, but I wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your blog. I don't comment very often, but that's because I'm not very good at writing down my thoughts. If you decide to keep writing, I'll certainly keep reading. But it not, that's ok too. We'll just have to talk more!!

Hi Larissa! Reading your blog is a way for me to connect with you when we haven't talked in a while. I realize this is usually a one-way connection, since I don't comment very often... But! I still love reading about what's going on in your head and life, in between our phone calls (though I'll see you soon!). Even if you wrote only once a month, I know I would appreciate it. And it looks like your other readers would, too... Think about it!

Friends, readers,

Thank you for your outpouring of thoughts about my blog. Luckily, you have easily convinced me to keep the blog up and running. EP, your point about writing even just once a month was comforting. I suppose my perfectionism makes me feel like I have to write in it once a week to keep up with the rest of the blogosphere. I feel bad when I let too much time go by between posts. I become afraid that my readership might decrease, but I suppose that's not why I do this anyway.

I will keep contributing, since this blog is something I'm proud of and still enjoy doing. And I'm glad it is a source of inspiration for you all as well! I am so excited to have you all checking in from time to time. Knowing you are out there is a big deal to me.

All my best,
Larissa
